The Geography of Hunger in Chicago

The Greater Chicago Food Depository, which assists 650 food pantries, kitchens, and shelters across the city, recently released a community-by-community study of food insecurity across Chicago.
The study found that one in five Chicagoans cannot be sure where their next meal is coming from, compared with roughly one in seven people across the state and nation.

The following map depicts food insecurity rates across Chicago in 2009.
